The Jewish Link
At a time when antisemitism and division are rising across the Western world, Jewish visibility in public space has never been more vital. Artist Yitzchok Moully, founder of Moully Art and Jewish Public Art, is responding with his ongoing Public Art Menorah project—a growing series of large-scale, design-driven menorahs that bring Jewish light, pride and creativity into shared public spaces.
What began in 2018 as Moully’s personal response to the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting has evolved into a movement. Each year since, Moully has challenged himself to create a new menorah design, exploring how the menorah—one of Judaism’s oldest symbols—can be reimagined as contemporary public art.
“Every menorah I create is guided by the same two ideas: to place the menorah proudly in public, and to light up the darkness,” says Moully. “That’s the mission behind every piece I create and the light I hope to keep sharing.”
Today, Moully’s menorahs can be found at New York’s Seaport, London, Miami, New Jersey and beyond. Each design merges the deep values of Judaism with the aesthetics of modern art, thus transforming the menorah beyond a sacred object into an artistic statement.
This year’s design, “Tradition with a Twist,” reimagines the menorah in nine vertical lines – sleek, sculptural, and timeless. Balancing heritage and innovation, it’s designed to shine in public squares, corporate plazas and community spaces worldwide as a beacon Jewish pride and light in a world of darkness.
Moully is a Chassidic artist whose work bridges Jewish tradition and contemporary design. Through Moully Art and Jewish Public Art, he creates sculptures and installations that make Jewish identity visible, vibrant and celebrated – from menorahs and murals to large-scale public art experiences.
Moully’s work has appeared in civic spaces across the U.S. and internationally, including in New York, LA, Jerusalem, London and Miami.
